Mark was born and raised in Savannah and after high school, Mark earned an Accounting degree from the University of Georgia.  Following graduation, he worked various public and private accounting positions in Savannah and Atlanta, including positions with Ernst and Young and a Fortune 50 company.  Through these positions, Mark aquired critical accounting, finance, mortgage, and real estate experience.

Mark furthered his education with a master’s degree at a University of Georgia satellite campus in Atlanta.

While in Atlanta, Mark began buying, selling, and renting residential real estate.  This experience coupled with his accounting and finance experience sparked an interest in originating mortgage loans. After working as a mortgage loan originator, Mark opened DeWitt Mortgage in Savannah.  Mark currently owns multiple rental properties in the Savannah, Atlanta, and Charleston areas.
